September Nails: The Trending Colours to adopt

5 min to read

Here comes September, that slightly suspended month when summer gently gives way to autumn. On our nails, this transitional period is expressed through a palette of warm polishes, mineral tones and a touch of vintage charm. We're telling you all about the standout september nail colours that will light up your back to school season, plus our inspirations to accompany the coming weeks with grace. The tone for the season is set!

Which nail colour to choose in September?

September settles in, bathed in its beautiful golden light. Bright, summery colours give way to a deeper palette. Between the first hints of freshness and softened warmth, our nails dress themselves in warm, mineral colours, like a final breath of summer. The new collection of Green™ nail polish and Green Flash™ Gel Polish, named Grand Canyon, captures this spirit perfectly. It draws inspiration from desert colours, earthy tones, stone and wood, playing between shadow and light, and celebrates this transitional season through three standout shades:

  • Milky Peach, a luminous milky peach.

  • Sandstone, a pearly light brown with mineral undertones.

  • Grenat, an intense reddish brown with mahogany undertones.

Three new shades that bring softness, character and sophistication to your autumn mani-pedis.

Velvety sensations

As summer slowly fades, polish colours become softer and more muted. They evoke the light of late afternoon, soft fabrics and the first cosy jumpers we happily pull back out of the wardrobe. Shades that offer natural elegance to every skin tone.

Milky Peach: the peach that lights up back to school

This is the perfect colour for a back to school manicure, echoing a dress spotted on the Vaillant Autumn-Winter 2026 runway. Halfway between beige and apricot, Milky Peach is that pretty milky peach shade, somewhere between the softness of milk and the glow of sun-soaked earth. Its creamy finish, in the style of milky nails, makes it an excellent alternative to classic nude.
Why do we love this shade?

  • It lights up fair skin just as beautifully as sun kissed skin.

  • It pairs effortlessly with a soft, muted back to school wardrobe.

  • It flatters short nails just as well as bolder lengths.

Chestnut: the indulgent brown

Brown shades are also among this September's trending nail colours, as confirmed by the Balenciaga runway, which showcased a to-die-for chocolate leather jacket! Its beauty counterpart for our nails is Chestnut, an intense hazelnut brown lifted with a hint of burgundy. Ultra chic, it delivers a modern, confident manicure. For an even trendier effect, pair it with the metallic sheen of gold jewellery and an ultra glossy Top Coat.

Dove Beige: the new chic neutral

Beige tones continue to dominate the trends, but this season they're gaining depth. Dove Beige modernises the natural manicure with its blend of powdery beige and soft grey undertones. A mineral shade, like a light veil laid over the nail, for a sophisticated look without being overdone, and particularly easy to pair with the autumnal colours in your seasonal wardrobe. It was also spotted on the Max Mara catwalk.

Colorado shades

Desert landscapes inspire this September's polish palette. Rocks, sand, clay and mineral tones make up a family of warm shades, like a postcard depicting the great American open spaces.

Sandstone: the new star of neutrals

There's no missing Sandstone this season, that pretty pearly light brown reminiscent of a latte finished with an iridescent powder for a delicate pearlescent effect. Inspired by the mineral formations of the Grand Canyon, this shade brings a striking luminosity to your hands. Also spotted at Alaïa, it stands out as one of the must-have nail colours for September 2026. Its strongest point? Its versatility. Sandstone suits very fair complexions just as well as medium and deep skin tones, revealing all their warmth. In short, a colour that gets everything right.

Terracotta: the unmissable return of warm earth tones

Terracotta tones return at the start of every autumn, but this year they're gaining in intensity, as seen at Saint Laurent.

In the world of manicures, Terracotta draws its inspiration from sun-warmed ochre earth. A vibrant, enveloping colour that flatters your nails with a sun-drenched elegance. And it pairs beautifully with cream, chocolate, camel or raw denim outfits.

Bubble: pastel softness continues

Who said pastels were reserved for spring? Not Chloé's artistic director, in any case! Bubble, with its delicately greyed blue, breathes a breath of freshness into the autumn manicure. Worn alone or paired with deeper colours, it adds contrast and lights up your hands, much like an azure sky above ochre rock.

Between shadow and light

Autumn is arriving, but the light is still here. The colours in this palette play precisely on this balance between intensity and radiance.

Grenat: the red of the season

If we had to pick just one shade for this September, it would probably be Grenat. Sitting at the crossroads of chocolate nails and berry nails, this polish, as deep as a fine vintage port, brings an ultimate dose of chic to your hands. Spotted on numerous Autumn-Winter runways, notably at Carven, this shade marks the great comeback of earthy, organic reds. An excellent option for anyone wanting a bold colour beyond a simple dark burgundy or aubergine purple nail polish.

Gold: the luminous touch

Metallic colours continue to charm. Gold flows over your nails, just as it did on that divine dress by Akris, thanks to Gold, a golden polish that brings a precious shine to your fingertips. In nail art, it can highlight an inverted French manicure or a few subtle details of a sophisticated nail design.

Khaki: natural elegance

Straddling summer shades and autumn colours, khaki remains one of the essential post-summer nail colours. A chameleon-like shade that Giorgio Armani celebrates this season. Modern and mineral, Khaki is a delicately greyed green polish, between raw nature and urban elegance. A nuanced yet confident khaki that gives the manicure plenty of style.

Manicure ideas for September

Fancy going beyond a simple block colour? Here are two inspirations to make a statement at the start of autumn 2026.

Earth Tones French Manicure

The French manicure keeps reinventing itself. Apply Pale Rose as a base, then create a mini rainbow-style coloured french tip using the different September shades: Milky Peach, Grenat, Sandstone, Khaki and Terracotta. A modern mini french that works just as well in the office as on the weekend!

?? Tip: if you're not quite confident with the brush technique for a French manicure, opt for the Mani Stamper, a magic tool that lets you create a neat, precise French tip in just a few seconds.

Sandstone Tiny Dot

And here's a minimalist, graphic and easy back to school nail art. Apply Pale Rose as a base and simply add a small dot of Sandstone with a dotting tool at the lunula (the small crescent at the base of the nail). Just a few minutes are enough to create this discreet yet decidedly current nail art.

September ushers in a new chapter, right down to your nails. Between golden light, mineral textures and enveloping colours, the Grand Canyon collection accompanies this transition with softness and character, drawing its inspiration from raw nature. All that's left is to choose the shades that will accompany the first chills of autumn 2026.
